'American Idol' alum Paul McDonald gets revenge in 'Slow Rising' video: exclusive

The new video for East Nashville singer-songwriter Paul McDonald's single "Slow Rising" is here.

Billboard has the exclusive premiere of the video, shown below. The video follows the release of the American Idol alum's solo EP Once You Were Mine, and comes in anticipation of his next full-length in 2016.

Lyrically, the song is about the slow realization that the person you're with is taking advantage of you. "This is my heart you're breaking, this is my love you're taking / Slow rising, but I'm waking up," McDonald sings. The vivid clip envisions the revenge plot that "Slow Rising" deals with.
