As rumored last month, the NFL next season will split up its Thursday Night Football package between two broadcast networks — CBS and NBC (which already is home to Sunday Night Football), Bloomberg Business reports.

Whereas last season's eight-game Thursday Night Football package on CBS fetched the NFL $300 million in rights fees, the two five-game packages reportedly are going for $225 million each, per the Wall Street Journal. Which is preci$ely why the NFL changed thing$ up.

As in the past, the NFL Network will also simulcast the CBS and NBC games, as well as broadcast eight other match-ups exclusively.

One potentially intrusive tweak to the TNF plan that apparently did not materialize: CBS and NBC will not be forced to alternate broadcasting games. Instead, CBS will televise the first half of the broadcasters' 10-game slate, NBC the second half.
