WATCH LIVE: Trump holds anti-debate event

Updated

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has opted to throw his own 'special event' Thursday evening instead of attending Fox News' GOP debate at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

The billionaire turned politician announced his decision earlier in the week to skip-out on the proceedings, citing a previous skirmish with Fox News moderator Megan Kelly at the previous GOP debate hosted by Fox News.

On Wednesday The Donald took to social media to poll his supporters on whether or not he should participate in the Fox News debate. "Megyn Kelly's really biased against me. She knows that. I know that. Everybody knows that," Trump said. "Do you really think she can be fair at a debate?"

Donald Trump's absence from Thursday night could mean more opportunity for candidates to grab the attention of the American people. For Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who currently finds himself in second place among Iowa voters, Thursday's debate might be the boost his campaign needs to edge out the current front-runner ahead of Monday's Iowa caucuses.

Other contenders such as Florida senator Marco Rubio, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, will also be looking to win the night and voter's support as the race to electing the 45th president of the United States heats up.
