The biggest sporting events provide us with some of the best photos, so it's only right that the Super Bowl annually produces some of the best shots we see all year. On this year's Super Bowl Sunday in San Francisco, we're bound to get a handful of doozies, too.

Whether it's because of impeccable lighting, pristine arenas or game-changing plays, football photographs just have a way of standing out -- as they have for the last five decades on the biggest stage.
