Televangelist Wants To Build Bible-Themed Resort

SAN DIEGO (KSWB) -- Local Televangelist, Morris Cerullo, wants to build a Christian-themed resort in Mission Valley.

The designs, which have been presented to the City of San Diego as part of an Environmental Information Report, showcases more than 120 timeshare suites.

The plans also call for a Biblical museum, 20-foot-high replica of Jerusalem's wailing wall, dome theater and hologram-filled catacombs.

The 84-year-old's plan is to build the $125 million project on the site of a foreclosed Mission Valley hotel he bought more than four years ago.

Cerullo's organization estimates the vacation destination to draw up to 400,000 annual visitors and could generate $86 million in annual revenue.

The project still needs City Council approval but the ministry hopes to break ground this year and be open for reservations in 2018.
