Donald Trump is not happy with the National Review, and made his thoughts about the conservative magazine very clear in a scathing Twitter rant on Thursday.

"National Review is a failing publication that has lost it's way. It's circulation is way down w its influence being at an all time low. Sad!" he wrote.

"Very few people read the National Review because it only knows how to criticize, but not how to lead," Trump continued.

The object of the GOP frontrunner's wrath is an "anti-Trump manifesto," organized by editor Rich Lowry, who assembled a group of 22 conservatives to boycott the presidential candidate.

The National Review's special Trump issue, which hits newsstands Friday, features a blistering editorial opposing his bid for the presidency and calling him a threat to conservatism. Lowry spent weeks reaching out to fellow conservatives, from The Weekly Standard's William Kristol to RedState's Erick Erickson, to commission essays for the campaign.

Trump "is not deserving of conservative support in the caucuses and primaries. Trump is a philosophically unmoored political opportunist who would trash the broad conservative ideological consensus within the GOP in favor of a free-floating populism with strong-man overtones," an article written by the Editors titled "Against Trump," claims, adding that: "Trump's political opinions have wobbled all over the lot."

Political commentator Glenn Beck also penned a column titled "Conservatives against Trump," which was posted on the National Review website Thursday night.

As for Trump, he wasn't going to take the bashing lying down, and dragged the late National Review founder into the conversation. "The late, great, William F. Buckley would be ashamed of what had happened to his prize, the dying National Review!" he tweeted angrily.

Even Michael Moore got caught up in the drama, tweeting: "Trump just called the National Review a 'dying paper.' Can't figure out if the magazine will be more upset at being called dying or a paper."
