Well, this is going to create a lot of gossip down in Bikini Bottom.

Actor Rodger Bumpass, the voice of Squidward Tentacles in "SpongeBob SquarePants," was arrested Friday night on a DUI charge, a spokesman for the Burbank, California, police department told TheWrap on Tuesday.

According to police, officers were dispatched just before 11 p.m. regarding a car stopped in the middle of the street on the 400 block of S. Fairview Street. When they arrived, police saw a PT Cruiser with Bumpass leaning against it. The actor walked away as the cops approached; according to police he was "very unsteady on his feet and nearly fell."

Bumpass, 64, "displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication" and was unable to satisfactorily complete his field sobriety tests.

Police say that Bumpass blew "substantially over" the legal blood-alcohol content limit of .08 percent on his breath test.

The actor "admitted to driving to the location and said he was trying to get home," police said.
