Craig Strickland's Cause of Death Yet to Be Determined

More details about the death of Craig Strickland have been released. While his wife, Helen Elizabeth, says the country star died of hypothermia, the medical examiner has yet to determine an official cause of death.

Over a week after he went missing during a duck hunting trip, Strickland's body was found on Monday morning in Kaw Lake in Kay County, Oklahoma by a member of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division who was on foot. The body was recovered in a "thick tree and brush" that made Stickland, 29, difficult to locate because of the camouflage hunting gear he was wearing, ET has learned.

Strickland's body was retrieved a quarter mile north of where his hunting partner, Chase R. Morland, was found in shallow water. According to the OHP, the friends' hunting gear -- which included their 1977 Flat Bottom John Boat without a motor, an ice chest and decoys -- was found nearby and created a "debris field" on the shoreline.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office has yet to determine the cause of Strickland's death. However, there is no indication of drug or alcohol use and they do not suspect foul play.
