UNT Student Shot, Killed On New Year's Eve


Hundreds of college students from the University of North Texas gathered together on Saturday night to remember the life of one girl.

Sara Mutschlechner, 20, died Friday night after she was shot leaving a New Year's Eve party.


Police say an SUV pulled up next to her car at a stoplight carrying five or six men. They exchanged brief words and then one passenger opened fire -- and hit Sara in the head.

Witnesses say she was serving as the designated driver for her friends that night and hadn't been drinking. It's possible that some of the men in the SUV attended the same party earlier.

As of Monday morning, no suspects have been arrested. Police are searching for the SUV and the passengers who were inside.
