College Student Programs Amazing Holiday Light Display To Music

ALTOONA, Iowa (WHO)–The designer of a new light display in Altoona hopes his work spreads holiday cheer.

The Goodhue Light Spectacular is located at 515 19th St. SW. Tyler Goodhue, 20, is the brains behind the operation. He says he watched videos online to figure out how to set the twinkling lights to music.

The decorations and programming boxes cost about $2,000. His parents covered the cost, but the DMACC student did most of the work himself. He started planning it in September.

Goodhue said, "It takes quite a long time. I have six songs that play, and each song you have to program each light to go off at a certain time. So, it took a couple hours each song."

The lights and music are on from 5 to 10 each night. Goodhue hopes to set the tunes to a radio station next year.
