BEST: Selena Gomez wowed in a gorgeous oxblood halter dress with a demure slit and pin-straight hair. Simple makeup and minimal accessories let the stunning frock speak for itself.

WORST: Kendall and Kylie have worn tons of designer dresses in their lifetimes in the public eye -- but the sisters missed the mark at the AMAs in disappointing black dresses. Kendall's cowlneck minidress left much to be desired, and her little sister's mess of a BDSM-inspired dress was just too much look.

BEST: Carrie Underwood stunned in a fabulous shimmery gown fit for a star. The singer looked flawless in the champagne hue and gauzy cape.

WORST: Demi Lovato looked outdated in a couch-like gown with an unflattering neckline. Dark lips, old-school pin curls and bulky black rings added to the borderline cheesy look.

BEST: Zendaya was a breath of fresh air in a pretty, pink lace mini with a Peter Pan collar. Rosy cheeks and lips completed the actress's unique ensemble.

WORST: Ellie Goulding looked more like she was joining the cast of "Jersey Shore" than attending the AMAs. Her one-shoulder, too-short minidress clashed with her gold and black booties, and her 'do lacked a touch of polish, too.

BEST: Gigi Hadid nabbed the spotlight in a ultra-sexy white two-piece with a lace-up bralette and thigh-high slit. A slick, cropped 'do completed the model's white-hot ensemble.

WORST: Julianne Hough was on the verge of wardrobe malfunction in a T-shirt gown that featured two slits up to ... there. Clunky platforms and tassled earrings also didn't fit the bill.

BEST: The One Direction boys looked dapper in varying suits. Liam rocked simple gray with a pink pocket square and skinny tie, Louis opted for a simple speckled suit with a crisp white shirt, Niall debuted adorable new specks, and Harry rocked an eye-catching floral Gucci creation.

WORST: Little Big Town looked less like a group and more like a mixed bag of misses in totally mismatched getups.

BEST: Tyga's classy getup came as a surprise -- and we're totally impressed by the chic blue suit and crisp white shirt.

WORST: It might be too late to say "sorry" for this unfortunate ensemble, Biebs. The singer may be riding his comeback, but we're definitely not beliebing in this too-casual, tasteless look.

BEST: Sheer black looks dominated the red carpet, and Ciara might have been the best of the best in a stunning sheer gown with intricate, curve-enhancing beading.

WORST: We're not quite sure what Tove Lo was thinking when she stepped into this caged frock, especially paired with nude undergarments and knee-high suede boots.

WORST: Yikes! We're not sure if country singer Kelsea Ballerini meant to channel Elvis Presley, but she definitely succeeded in this flared white jumpsuit with statement belt.
