Bullock Gives Props to Jennifer Lawrence for Gender Pay Gap Essay

Imagine you're at brunch. You're three Bloody Marys deep and you're talking about work, because work, right? And one of your friends, that Cool Girl scarfing down the hamburger, is really over how she's getting paid less than that douche bag even though she's a bigger deal than him. Then there's Sandy, who just pushes her food around, and quietly agrees. You all turn to look at your fancy lawyer friend from college who has that Céline bag that you'd just kill for. She sniffs, "I don't like talking about money; it's a bit vulgar, isn't it?"

That friend, of course, is the poised and beautiful Kate Winslet. "I'm having such a problem with these conversations," she said to BBC Newsbeat. "I understand why they are coming up but maybe it's a British thing. I don't like talking about money; it's a bit vulgar isn't it?" She continued, "I don't think that's a very nice conversation to have publicly at all. I'm quite surprised by these conversations to be honest, simply because it seems quite a strange thing to be discussing out in the open like that. I am a very lucky woman and I'm quite happy with how things are ticking along."

She goes on to say that she's never experienced sexism in Hollywood before, and that if she did, she wouldn't stand for it. "If I'd ever been in that situation I would have either dealt with it or removed myself from it," she said "I find all this quite uncomfortable. I haven't ever felt that I've really had to stick up for myself just because I'm a woman."
