Surfer bitten by shark at South Florida beach
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A man is recovering after being bitten by a shark while he was surfing at a South Florida beach.
Broward County Sheriff's spokesman Mike Jachles tells local news outlets that 21-year-old Peter Kirn was surfing Monday afternoon at Deerfield Beach when a 5-foot spinner shark bit his foot. He was near the Deerfield Beach fishing pier.
Kirn paddled back to shore and received aid from lifeguards, who called 911. He was taken to Broward Health North with non-life-threatening injuries.
