Bethany Balsis juggles two full-time positions, one as a professional photographer and the other as a mother to two daughters with Down syndrome.

But Balsis was able to bring the best of both worlds to her latest project -- a heartwarming calendar featuring children with Down syndrome.

With October being Down Syndrome Awareness Month, the timing could not be more perfect.

The Bristow, Virginia photographer told ABC News that her main goal was to "get the kids' personalities to shine through."

The photos are the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia's calendar. Although it is issued annually, this was Balsis' first time at the helm of the project.

The adorable photos exude personality from each of their subjects -- from the smiles on the faces of two infants playing with leaves to the mesmerizing gaze of a girl blowing snow from her hands.
