Fab or flop: Lady Gaga's absurd accessories, Kate Hudson's velour pants and more

Fab: Olivia Wilde

Wilde is throwing it back with this fall's 70s trend in flared jeans, a velour jacket, a wide-brimmed hat and a retro over-the-shoulder bag. The fringe belt ties it all together for an effortlessly trendy look.

Flop: Lady Gaga

While Lady Gaga is always known to turn heads, this ultra-bright outfit has us shielding our eyes. We love Lady Gaga, but this outfit isn't her classiest look. We wouldn't mind the dress alone, but the heels, nails, hat and shades are a bit too much.

Fab: Mia Waskowska

Wasikowska looks darling in this high-waisted A-line skirt and printed long-sleeve top. She was smart not to over-accessorize as the two staple pieces easily stand alone. She looks adorably charming!

Flop: Paula Abdul

Abdul's dress isn't as sophisticated as we'd like for her and the heels do absolutely nothing for the overall look. We understand that Abdul likes to spice up her looks with something flirty and fun, but there's a way to do it without losing her natural elegance.

Fab: Gigi Hadid

Hadid pulls off the casual look so well in this graphic T-shirt, damaged girlfriend jeans and slip-on sneakers. The robe coat adds the perfect touch of trendy sophistication!

Flop: Selena Gomez

While Selena Gomez has literally been our fashion icon as of late, this look is just off the mark as we're not huge fans of the blue shoes with the striped dress. The dress doesn't do much for the adorable singer and the shoes definitely throw off the whole look.

Fab: Gabrielle Union

Union is working the post-Labor-Day white in this chic dress with a flattering magenta print. We like that she didn't alter the look with excessive accessories. She stuns in the perfectly-tailored getup.

Flop: Kate Hudson

We absolutely love Kate Hudson, but this look is throwing it back a bit too far. The velour pants make us reminiscent of those pre-teen Juicy sweatpants days and the off-the-shoulder sweater is a bit too 90s. We love the shades, though!

Fab: Selena Gomez

Redeemed! Gomez re-emerges as the style guru we know and love in this gorgeous white jumpsuit. As jumpsuits are perhaps the most worn trend right now, Gomez spices it up with an all-white look and gold embellishments. She looks sensational!

Flop: Sarah Silverman

Silverman's outfit does nothing for her figure here. The dark-on-dark tones and solid-on-solid are a bit boring and outdated, especially when paired with plain flats and a backpack. We'd love to see her pair the skirt with a printed top and maybe trade the backpack for a chic bucket bag.

Fab: Elijah Wood

YAASS Elijah! Wood is winning in denim-on-denim, trendy cuffed ankles, retro shades and a cross-body bag. It looks like he's even working a gingham shirt under the denim jacket. This look is a show-stopper!

Flop: Vivienne Westwood

We're not exactly sure what's going on with this outfit. It seems Westwood has draped a blanket over her shoulders and thrown on some sort of soft-denim jumpsuit. We suggest she trade the outfit for a denim-on-denim look with a trendy cape to drape over her shoulders.

Fab: Alessandra Ambrosio

Ambrosio looks like the effortless "cool girl" in in this high-waisted denim skirt, turtleneck crop top, strappy sandals and bold orange bucket bag. Her shades add the perfect mysterious vibe.

Flop: Tulisa Contostavlos

While we don't mind the velour suit, we don't love the plunging neckline or the lace-up red shoes. The look would be much classier with a simple nude heel and maybe a white ruffled neckline.

Fab: Kirsten Dunst

While we normally don't love head-to-toe black, Dunst is working the high-neck top and sexy leather pants. We love the sleek heels and over-the-shoulder gold chain bag!

Flop:  Fleur East

While we love the idea of a two-piece crop top set and the cut of the pants are very trendy, we wish the outfit was tailored to East's figure a bit better. We're also not crazy about the printed tote paired with the look because the two prints seem to clash. We love the white heels with the look, though!

Fab: Christie Brinkley

We're obsessed with the leather jacket paired with a gingham flannel around the waist. We also love Brinkley's suede over-the-knee boots and sleek leather tote. Looking chic!

Flop: Jodie Harsh

While leather pants and fur vests are very in right now, this is a classic case of over-accessorizing. We don't love the shoes, the belt or the oversized necklace and earrings.

As stars stepped out for promotional events, shopping sprees or even just to grab a quick cup of coffee this week, they made sure to sport the trendiest fall looks. We saw many celebs rock jumpsuits, denim-on-denim, leather pants and flared jeans.

We especially loved Selena Gomez's white jumpsuit. While jumpsuits are certainly getting their fair wear this season, Gomez spruced it up a bit with gold embellishments and post-Labor-Day white. We also loved Olivia Wilde's 70s look as she strolled the streets of NYC. Her wide-brimmed hat, flared jeans, fringe belt and retro bag screamed "throwback" in the best possible way.

As for flops, the biggest faux pas of the week was definitely celebs dressing a bit too young. While there's nothing wrong with reviving old trends (just look at Olivia Wilde), it's important not to lose the air of sophistication and fashion-forwardness when throwing together a blast from the past. We weren't fans of Kate Hudson's velour pants and off-the-shoulder sweater or Paula Abdul's ultra-flirty sheer dress.
