Dunkin' Donuts employee tells officer: 'We don't serve cops here'
One employee from a Dunkin' Donuts restaurant in Connecticut is in hot water after reportedly refusing to serve a cop coffee.
According to NBC New York, the incident occurred when the West Hartford police officer was waiting in line to buy coffee. Police say one of the employees loudly told the room of customers, "He didn't get the message. We don't serve cops here."
After hearing the employee's words, the police officer promptly left the coffee chain. However, the cop was stopped by the franchise's manager before he got to his car. The manager brought out the employee to apologize to the West Hartford police officer. According to the police report, the worker explained to him that the comment was meant as a joke.
At the request of the cop, the employee then apologized to the offended customers. As part of the apology, the worker then reportedly offered the officer a free cup of coffee. However the officer said no, explaining he would go elsewhere instead.

The crew member exhibited poor judgment and apologized immediately to the police officer. The franchise owner, a long-time supporter of local police, has also reached out to apologize on behalf of the restaurant. Dunkin' Donuts and our franchisees share a commitment to the well-being and fair treatment of all guests.
