Yoko Ono Lennon Plans Record Breaking Event

Almost 35 years after her husband was violently shot and killed, Yoko Ono is honoring John Lennon's life with peace.

On October 6th, thousands are expected to gather in New York's Central Park to help her set the Guinness World Record for the largest human peace sign.

The event is part of the 2015 NYC residency for the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus -- a mobile recording studio providing hands-on experience for students of all ages. The event comes just days before what would have been the musical legend's 75th birthday.

Ono says the idea is to send a record-breaking message of peace to the world from Central Park's East Meadow.

Lennon was shot and killed in front of The Dakota, the now-infamous apartment building that sits along the park, where he was living in 1980.

This won't be the first grand gesture for the late star in Central Park. In 1985, five years after his death, Strawberry Fields was created inside the famous park and dedicated to Lennon. It remains a place where people from all across the globe come to pay their respects.

You can register for the event, which is free to the public, at this link.
