Major fashion retailer features first hijab-wearing model
Meet Mariah Idrissi, one of H&M's newest models and as of late, an internet sensation.
Idrissi is now the first-ever hijab-wearing model featured in an H&M campaign — but this isn't the first time the Swedish retailer has broken barriers. Just a few months back, H&M's sister company, & Other Stories, featured transgender models at the forefront of the campaign.

For Idrissi, a 23-year-old London native, this whole experience "means a lot."

"I think it's important to use women in hijabs because Islam is the second largest religion in the world," Idrissi told Buzzfeed Life.
In addition, Idrissi told Fusion that H&M made her feel so comfortable on set, and were very respectful. She said, "[H&M] asked how much in terms of neck I could show, but to be honest they were very respectful."
Stay tuned for the upcoming campaign, we can't wait!
