Boy uses birthday presents to gift $1,290 for bullet-proof vest for police dog

Instead of his birthday gifts, 9-year-old Ethan Flint asked his friends and family to help him raise money through a GoFundMe campaign to donate a bullet-proof vest for dogs to a K9 unit at the St. Paul Police Department. This is not the first time that Ethan helped out the animal world. According to his mom, the boy has been involved in giving back since his fourth birthday, when he was overwhelmed by presents. She suggested that instead of having a party going forward, he donate to a cause instead. He helped raise money for a giraffe exhibit at the Como Zoo and for frogs and snakes at the Minnesota Herpetological Society.
