Lee had been picked up that morning by a bus operated by "Pupil Transportation" and transported to Sierra Vista Adult School.

He was found hours later by a driver who went to check the bus, parked outside the Whittier Unified High School District, after Lee's mother's report.

The cause of death or how long the teen had been in the bus were not known, but police were investigating the possibility that the student was left in the bus all day after receiving reports that he never got off the bus.
