After a retiring postman sent his customers a handwritten note saying goodbye, his kind words and amazing penmanship won the hearts of the Internet.

The note from Michael Raymen aka Mike the Mailman announcing his retirement to the people on his round after 20 years with the US Postal Service has gone viral. The note, which was posted on Imgur, has been viewed more than 1.3 million times. It has restored people's faith in humanity and kindness. Raymen's note reads:

"Twenty years have seemingly flown by. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to have been your letter carrier for the past four years. Many of you have been with me for that long, some have not. I have enjoyed getting to know you and hope that I have provided a service to your liking."

The note continues:

"I have seen many changes over the years and have enjoyed and endured all of the triumphs and heartaches. I will miss all of you as you have seemed like a second family to me."

Raymen went on to say that he lost his wife of 42 years in September of 2014. He wrote that his wife would agree that it's time for him to start a new chapter of his life. We wish you all the best, Mike the mailman!
