Here's a short history lesson: Trail mix is actually thousands of years old. Ancient nomadic tribes used to mix up dried berries, fruits, nuts and meats together. While it wasn't called trail mix at the time, the nomadic people stumbled upon one of the greatest snacks of all time. It wasn't until 1968 that Harmony Foods and Hadley Fruit Orchards of California, confirmed the name "trail mix." It was said to be invented by surfers who mixed together peanuts and raisins to keep their energy levels up during more intense surfing periods.

Awesome benefits to eating trail mix include getting a boost of energy. Whenever you're feeling sluggish at work, have some trail mix. It'll boost your spirits and you'll make it through the day soundly. Depending on how you make it, trail mix may have a lot of protein. Nevertheless, one can't over do it because it can also be really high in fat.
