Kanye West Declares He's Running for President During VMA Speech

Kanye West didn't just win the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, he won the internet.

The rapper's acceptance speech was the number one generator of social media mentions during the entire three hour broadcast, according to data released by both Facebook and Twitter on Monday.

"It's not about me. It's about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth," West's speech concluded. "And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president."
