Twin boys dead after being found unconscious in Phoenix area
AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say 2-year-old twin boys are dead after being found unresponsive in a suburban Phoenix home.
Avondale police spokesman Brandon Busse says officers were called to a home near 115th Avenue and Yuma Street shortly before noon about reports of an ill person.
However, Busse says responding officers found the two boys lying unconscious on a bed.
Police and firefighters administered CPR and both children were taken to hospital, where they died.
Initial reports from firefighters indicated the boys were in a bathtub and may have drowned.
Busse says investigators are treating the incident as a death investigation, not a drowning.
Autopsies will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Busse says the investigation is ongoing.
Police are interviewing people, including the boys' mother who was at the home.
