Red carpet rewind! Check out the 2005 MTV VMAs
Is that you, Kelly Clarkson? The "American Idol" winner was hot off her reality show success and sporting a punk-rock look at the 2005 MTV VMAs, where she picked up two awards for "Since You've Been Gone." These days, we doubt the superstar would ever rock this goofy look. (AP Photo/Alan Diaz)

Sisters night out! Jessica Simpson was still married to Nick Lachey at the time this snap was taken, but in a bit of foreshadowing, she posed on the red carpet with her little sister, Ashlee, who was a rising star at the time. Can you believe how young the gorgeous siblings look? (AP Photo/Alan Diaz)

The trio of beauties known as Destiny's Child were were still at the top of their careers in 2005. Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland and Beyonce Knowles all looked stunning at the event. Rihanna was just hitting the scene in 2005 and was a fan of tight jeans, sparkly tops and belly necklaces. Not much has changed, except for her insanely hot career now. (Photo by Lawrence Lucier/FilmMagic)
Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson did take a minute to pose together at the awards show. We have to admit, they were an attractive couple, but unfortunately they divorced later that year. (Photo by Marc Andrew Deley/FilmMagic)

Alicia Keys stunned in a gold gown at the VMAs and won the award for Best R&B video for "Karma." Her youthful spirit and gorgeous glow in her early career have definitely stuck with her.

Pharrell Williams wasn't quite the big name he is now, but at the time he was one of the hottest producers around and had already worked with names like Beyonce, Kanye and more. Now that makes us "happy." (Photo by Lawrence Lucier/FilmMagic)

Can you believe this marriage didn't have a fairytale ending? Hulk Hogan and his then-wife, Linda, hit the awards show with their kids, Nick and Brooke. Brooke tried out a singing career later in life, Linda ditched Hulk in favor of one of her kids' friends, which may not come as a huge surprise since she's dressed like her teenage daughter in this shot. (AP Photo/Jeff Christensen)

Green Day for the win! The black eyeliner-loving group was all the rage in 2005 and dominated the 2005 show. The group's video for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" won six awards, including video of the year, best group video, best rock video and two trophies for direction and cinematography (for director Samuel Bayer). (AP Photo/Alan Diaz)
Ten years ago, Diddy was all about T-shirts and big chains. These days the rapper has a classier look and typically opts for slick suits. (AP Photo/Alan Diaz)

Not much has changed for Paris Hilton, who is still sporting the same blingy fashions and super tan skin. (AP Photo/Alan Diaz)
50 Cent was all about leather pants and tank tops back in the day.  Are you a fan of his hard look? (AP Photo/Lynne Sladky)

Ice-T literally looks the exact same as he does now -- literally. Well, except for that wild yellow jacket, which he (hope!) he may have ditched by now. (Photo by J. Merritt/FilmMagic)
Lindsay Lohan was a blonde in 2005 and often hit the awards show and party circuits. We can't get over how incredibly tiny her waist is in this shot. Photo by J. Merritt/FilmMagic)

R. Kelly was looking fly in 2005 -- but he was about to get involved a major court trial about allegations that he participated in sexual acts with an underage girl. Yikes! (Photo by Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic)

Remember when Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were still a couple? When Green Day was the hottest band and Kelly Clarkson was a relative newcomer to the music scene with her hit song "Since You've Been Gone"? All of those things were still true at the 2005 MTV VMAs!

In 2005, the MTV VMAs were hosted by Diddy and held in Miami. Crop tops, belly necklaces, bellbottom jeans and Destiny's Child were all still a thing! And Miley Cyrus, who is hosting the VMAs this year, wasn't even old enough to attend the show back then.

As we gear up for the 2015 MTV VMAs this Sunday in Los Angeles, take a trip down memory lane and look back at the hottest stars ten years ago.
