One woman is selling her college diploma on eBay because she's had enough

Updated

Stephanie Ritter, an underemployed graduate of Florida State University, has decided to sell her diploma and "college experience" on eBay after the job prospects post college have become fruitless.

Ritter told Buzzfeed that she was going through her room finding old items from high school and college when she came across her 2011 diploma from Florida State University.

"I thought this piece of paper has so much worth to so many people, but for a theater major, it couldn't mean less," she said. "I'm doing the exact same things and probably getting paid the exact same amount as people that dropped out halfway through freshman year, except I'm still $40,000 in debt and they're, well, not."

This struggle is clearly all to real for many college grads. After graduating with a theater degree, Ritter took a job as an assistant as there really wasn't much out there for her to do. A study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York states that only 27% of college graduates have jobs that are closely related to their major.

This wouldn't be the first time someone has tried to sell their diploma online, but Ritter is adding in a bit more flair with hers: she is also selling her experience. Among her experiences include the following:

  • A TOUR of Florida State University including everywhere you would have gone/eaten/partied in your four years at FSU. (Possibly includes but not limited to: Suwanee Hall and a possible Ms. Killings sighting, Jimmy Johns, Mr. Roboto, dinner at Cool Beanz, burgers & beers at Monks, drinks at Poor Pauls)

  • A driving tour of the spots I got speeding tickets in between classes!

  • Access to all of my college memories/Facebook albums for 6 months! (access to any memories by phone or text between 10-7 Sunday-Thursday so you can give someone the most authentic specific memories straight from my brain to their ears)

  • IF timing permits, AN AUTHENTIC FSU HOME FOOTBALL OR BASEBALL GAME

She goes on to also include the classes she attended as well and explains why you should just buy her diploma rather than actually going to get your own degree.

To conclude her efforts for selling her diploma, she signed off for a plea to someone help her from the crippling debt.
