Facebook is making the next digital assistant that Siri should fear
Siri and Google Now have a new rival, and it comes from Facebook.
The social media giant is working on its own version of a digital assistant which will be incorporated into the Messenger app. Facebook Messenger lead David Marcus broke the news to the world with a Facebook post that announced the plan, described what "M" (that's the name of the assistant) can do and what it looks like.
The idea behind M, just like with Siri, Google Now and Microsoft's Cortana is to use the data you input on your device to predict your needs and make the most accurate suggestions. According to Techcrunch, the rollout is going to be slow and expensive, but if it falls through it is going to be a major pivot in the way we use the app.
