British IndyCar Driver Justin Wilson Dies of Head Injury



Unfortunately, there is some sad news to report on Monday from the world of IndyCar, as 37-year-old British driver Justin Wilson has died. IndyCar announced the sad news on Monday night.

Wilson was racing at the triangle Pocono track on Sunday, where they have only recently begun to run IndyCar races again. While the race was taking place, debris flew from the car of Sage Karam and it struck Wilson. From there, Wilson was airlifted to a hospital, however he was in a coma until his untimely death on Monday night.

The statement from IndyCar, which you can read in full here, stated only that Wilson suffered a severe head injury from the debris that he was hit with. He was immediately knocked unconscious from the incident and he apparently never came out.

Wilson was an eight-year veteran of the IndyCar series, but unfortunately that run came to an untimely end on Sunday at Pocono. Thoughts and prayers are with the entire Wilson family through this difficult time.
