Couple eats 60-year-old wedding cake to celebrate anniversary

A Florida couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary exactly the way they celebrated getting married -- with Champagne and wedding cake. But this wasn't just any wedding cake. It was the same cake they cut on their wedding day.

Ann and Ken Fredericks got married August 19, 1955 in Nyack, New York. The dark fruit cake they ate that day was made by Ann's grandmother, which is a family tradition.

The couple eventually relocated to Satellite Beach, Florida, and with them came the wedding cake.

"It's typical fruit cake. It tastes like cake, it does, tastes like fruit cake...I mean, dark fruit cake keeps," 81-year-old Ann told ABC News.

They pour brandy on the cake to moisten it -- because apparently, 60 years of sitting around can really suck the moisture out of a baked good. The couple listens to a recording of their wedding day, and when it's over, the cake goes back into an old coffee can for another year. They don't freeze the memento.

The story has become a viral hit, but the couple admits they don't see what all the fuss is about. (Literally, they say they've never been on Facebook, and rarely go on the computer.)
