Lightning Bolt Strikes Plane on Runway in Atlanta

The Delta Airlines plane carrying 117 people was sitting on the runway at Atlanta International Airport waiting for take off, when a strike of lightning hit the plane's tail.

Despite the dramatically direct strike on the plane, no one was injured. In fact, the plane was able to take off for Las Vegas just 20 minutes later.

A Delta spokesperson assured that the passengers were in no danger, and their planes were built to handle these types of situations.

Thankfully, no one was hurt during this storm in Atlanta...but did you know that in Illinois, there have been 75 lightning related deaths in the past seven years?
