Caught On Video: Seal Narrowly Escapes Jaws Of Great White Shark

Dr. Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries recently captured video of a great white shark's failed attempt to catch a seal.

The predator was in hot pursuit of its prey off the coast of Cape Cod, and when the seal jumped into the air, the shark followed suit.

It appears it was a narrow miss, but a big win for the would-be meal, nonetheless.

The two were evenly matched in size, both measuring about 12-feet long.

A quick twist of the body and a resulting change in direction seem to be what gave the seal the upper hand.

Shark sightings in the area are a common occurrence, and Skomal was out with a crew tagging a few for scientific purposes.
