Jennie Garth reveals she designed her own wedding gown, plus dream details of her big day

Jennie Garth has a long list of achievements on her resume – and now she can add wedding dress designer.

"I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I first tried it on," Garth told AOL in an exclusive interview of her gown for her nuptials to Dave Abrams in July.

The 43-year-old actress and her hubby said their 'I dos' in an intimate backyard ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family, including "Beverly Hills, 90210" co-star and longtime pal Tori Spelling.

Garth worked with bridal designer extraordinaire Claire Pettibone to create her dream dress, which was far from traditional.

"There were definitely moments where I was very unsure," said the darling newlywed. "But it was a dress I was really proud of."

And her design skill definitely paid off, since she was absolutely glowing when she walked down the isle in a custom sky blue gown embroidered with flowers.

But her dress wasn't the only DIY project Garth tackled for the big day. She also created virtually everything for the ceremony.

"I didn't want to hire somebody and just show up. We really wanted it to feel homespun," the actress dished. "There's a charm in that and it definitely carried through in an emotional level with the people that came."

While Garth confessed that there were times during the planning process where she felt overwhelmed, she gladly took all the assistance she could get from her three favorite helpers.

"The kids helped me with everything. Any project I'm doing, I find a way to get my kids involved in it because it's more fun that way."

It's no surprise the self-described DIY guru isn't afraid to get her hands dirty.

"That's how I was raised," the actress revealed while talking about her newest 'Make It Happen' campaign with Motrin. "My dad always taught me to do something myself before I hire someone else to do it."

With that attitude, it's no surprise that her fairytale wedding was absolutely perfect.
