Geno Smith's Career Might Be More Broken Than His Jaw

This is a story that is almost too incredible to be true. On Wednesday, the Buffalo Billsclaimed outside linebacker IK Enemkpali one day after he was released by the New York Jets for punching quarterback Geno Smith in the face. Smith had his jaw broken in two spots and needs surgery, putting him out 6-10 weeks. This news was first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Of course, the Bills have Rex Ryan as their new head coach this year after Ryan was fired by New York at the conclusion of the 2014 campaign, when the Jets went 4-12. Ryan might see still something in Enemkpali, or he simply needs a camp body and decided to absolutely troll the Jets by bringing this guy in.

Enemkpali is a second-year player who was drafted by New York in the sixth round out of Louisiana Tech University. Last year, Enemkpali, 24, recorded three tackles. The Bills are loaded at outside linebacker with Mario Williams and Jerry Hughes projected to start. However, the depth is questionable and Ryan – who along with former Jets general manager John Idzik drafted Enemkpali – could see an upgrade on the back end of the roster.

On Twitter, ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini openly wondered what Buffalo will be like in the locker room with such an interesting collection pf players, including a pair of ex-Jets.

It will be fascinating to see if Enemkpali can stick on Buffalo's roster throughout the four preseason games and into the regular season. The Bills and Jets will play each other on Nov. 12 at MetLife Stadium.
