Couple overdosed on heroin while their 2-year-old was in the car

Updated

On Sunday August 9, 28-year-old Lynette Slocomb and her 30-year-old boyfriend Jeffrey Silva were found in a car about 40 miles south of Boston.

Police found the couple with their child in the backseat, and the officers came to the conclusion that the pair had overdosed on heroin.

Slocomb and Silva were immediately transported to the hospital where they were successfully treated with Narcan -- a medication that counters the effect of opioids.

Police Lt. Paul Roderick told CBS Boston:

Thankfully, the child wasn't injured.
