Aldon Smith is not a football player who was released on Friday — he's a human being who needs help and needs to find out how to get it. Everyone seems to be harping on Smith for throwing away all the chances he has been given, but at the end of the day he is someone that needs to get his life back on track and has officially hit rock bottom.

Smith was given another chance by the San Francisco 49ers after his previous run-in with the law last year but his arrest on Thursday night was the last straw.

The police report from the incident that lead to Smith's release by the 49ers has been revealed.

The fall of Aldon Smith isn't something to take joy in or celebrate. This isn't a football player who blew his chance at being a superstar in the NFL — this is a man who needs help at all costs.

Hopefully, this is a wakeup call for Smith and he can turn his life around. He's had plenty of chances to do that already and he's squandered those away. This needs to be something that sets Smith on the right path, and until that happens it appears he has run out of chances in the NFL.
