A recent Channel 5 documentary, Undercover Benefits Cheat, shows how a man steals the birth certificates of dead babies to help people cheat the benefits system.
The man, known as "David Bolt," began advertising his service online after working at the benefits office on his local council.
The documentary shows the man meeting with investigative journalist Paul Connolly. "David" thought that he was meeting with a man named Patrick Malone as Connolly was working undercover for the purpose of the documentary.
During the meeting, "David" bragged about his ability to create fake identities, forge bank statements, and sell dead babies' birth certificates.
"David" dished to Connolly, who he thought was Malone, his method of earning money by forging the documents. Connolly referred to the birth certificate forgery as a "sinister low."
People clearly go to great lengths to swindle money from the system.
