Johnny Depp Looks Terrifying as Gangster Whitey Bulger in 'Black Mass' Trailer



This gangster has friends in high places.

The latest Black Mass trailer is set to Yelawolf's "Till It's Gone" as Kevin Weeks (Jesse Plemons) recounts the rise of his former boss and now fugitive JamesWhitey Bulger (Johnny Depp). He describes Bulger's acquisition of friends in high places in the FBI thanks to FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton).

"The next thing you know, he's a damned kingpin," says Weeks. "You know why? The FBI let it happen."

Directed by Scott Cooper, the crime drama also stars BenedictCumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Jesse Plemons, Peter Sarsgaard, Rory Cochrane, Adam Scott, Dakota Johnson, and Corey Stoll.

It is based on the book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill.

Black Mass hits theaters on Sept. 18..
