1. Ohio cop charged with murder, released on bail
The 25-year-old former University of Cincinnati police officer who was charged with murder after shooting an unarmed black man following a traffic stop, was released on Thursday after he posted his $1 million bond.

2. Airplane debris to be inspected
Malaysian investigators are expected to arrive at a remote island in the Indian Ocean on Friday, to inspect airplane debris that washed ashore that matches the model of vanished Malaysian Airlines flight 370.

3. Taliban names new leader
Afghanistan's Taliban announced its new leader on Thursday, whom sources say has ties to Pakistani authorities, which could lead to a weakening divide within the group.

4. Jurors to decide Colorado shooter's punishment
James Holmes' defense attorneys made one last plea for mercy on Thursday citing his mental illness, as jurors decide his punishment for murdering 12 people and trying to kill 70 others at a Colorado movie theater in 2012.

5. China lashes out against US over disputed waters
China slammed the U.S. on Thursday, claiming its criticism of China's development projects in the South China Sea was an attempt to create discord and said the U.S. is trying to "militarize" the region.
