Great news for all you "Reading Rainbow" fans out there. This beloved children's program, which ran for a whopping 21 seasons, is headed to Netflix.

On August 1, Netflix will stream this literary phenomena (for all those wondering where in the world it went). The show captivated the hearts' of millions, and is sure to make waves again on Netflix.



To ensure that the latest generation gets to experience the gift of "Reading Rainbow" too, the show's producer and host, LaVar Burton created a Kickstarter campaign to bring the show back. Astonishingly, within hours, the fundraiser reached its goal of $1 MILLION...then, surpassed its stretch goal of $5 million!

In addition to the 105,857 backers around the world that pledged $5,408,916, "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane pitched in (a lot). He donated $1 million to the "Reading Rainbow" project.

The premiere date for the new episodes is TBD, but in the mean time, binge watch the old episodes on Netflix...your 8-year-old self will thank you dearly.
