'The Bachelorette': Shawn and Kaitlyn's Love Story

[Warning: This story contains spoilers from Monday's finale of ABC's The Bachelorette.]

After a turbulent season of The Bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe has made it to her final rose ceremony.

The episode began with Nick meeting Kaitlyn's family. Kaitlyn's mom said she was "totally shocked" to learn that Nick was one of Kaitlyn's final two guys, given that she didn't have a good impression of him from Andi Dorfman's season. However, with Kaitlyn imploring her mom to keep an open mind, she came around, calling him a "teddy bear" and giving him her approval.

Shawn also got to meet the family, with Kaitlyn's mom worried about how he handles jealousy and wanting to hear how he dealt with the news that Kaitlyn had slept with Nick.

THE BACHELORETTE - ABC's hit romantic reality series, 'The Bachelorette,' kicks off its 11th season continuing the surprises of this season's 'Bachelor' with the biggest one of all: there will be two Bachelorettes. One is Kaitlyn, the gorgeous, fun-loving, warm-hearted, but irreverent firecracker who let down her guard only to have her heart crushed. Who will the men prefer? Eventually, only one woman will be left to hand out the final rose. 'The Bachelorette' returns to ABC, premiering MONDAY, MAY 18 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. America fell in love with two very different but dynamic Bachelorettes last season - Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe. It was hard to choose between the beautiful, charming Britt and the gorgeous, fun-loving, wise cracking Kaitlyn. So now, 25 eligible bachelors will choose between these two amazing women. For the first time in franchise history there will be two Bachelorettes. Chris Soules sent both ladies home broken hearted, but now with another chance at love, both women are ready to take a journey they hope will wind up happily ever after, on 'The Bachelorette' two-night premiere event, MONDAY, MAY 18 (9:01-11:00 p.m., ET) and TUESDAY, MAY 19 (8:00-9:00 p.m, ET), on the ABC Television Network. Each guy got a final date with Kaitlyn. She and Nick went boating, and he gave her a scrapbook with a photo from their first date. Shawn and Kaitlyn shared time on the couch, and Shawn's gift was a "memory jar," which is apparently a thing. Kaitlyn said she felt that she and Shawn have more memories than a couple that's been together for a year. If you say so, Kaitlyn.

At the mansion, Kaitlyn spoke to Nick, who told her he was in love with her. He started to get on his knee to propose, but Kaitlyn stopped him. "The only explanation I have is that my heart is with somebody else," she said. She claimed that she had been in love with Nick, but Nick bristled and said he didn't buy it. In the limo, he dramatically took off the ring from their vacation and threw it to the other side of the vehicle. "I'm the world's biggest joke," he told the camera.

Next was Shawn's turn, where he called her "the most incredible woman I have ever met in my entire life." She admitted that she had made mistakes in the journey but called herself "completely yours." Shawn got down on one knee and proposed to Kaitlyn, who said yes. The couple then proudly told the camera that they are both in love.

Did Kaitlyn make the right choice? Was Nick right to be upset? Are you busy creating your own memory jars at the moment? Let us know in the comments!
