Happy Birthday, Oscar de la Renta! Today the iconic fashion designer would have turned 83, and we would like to celebrate his life. Mr. de la Renta designed for celebrities, socialites and politicians, and his name lives on through the Oscar de la Renta fashion label, which continued with Peter Copping's debut collection and recently released its Fall 2015 bridal collection.

Some of our favorite ODLR designs were Amal Clooney's wedding dress, an exquisite, off-the-shoulder lace gown fit for a princess, and the beaded beauty that Taylor Swift wore to the 2014 Met Gala, which featured an oversized bow that made us swoon.

Mr. de la Renta was a celebrity favorite not only for his dazzling designs, but also for his friendship. Shortly after his death, stars took to social media to share their favorite memories of the designer. In a tweet, Piper Perabo acknowledged Mr. de la Renta's devotion to working with strong women with a quote from him, which read, "The qualities I most admire in women are confidence and kindness.

The one-of-a-kind designer's work was featured in a retrospective at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in the summer of 2014, memorializing five decades of Mr. de la Renta's most coveted pieces. Tributes to Oscar de la Renta have continued since his death, including the exhibit, "Oscar de la Renta: His Legendary World of Style", which was the first posthumous Oscar de la Renta exhibit to open in February of 2015 at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

While he is certainly missed, Oscar de la Renta lives on through the memory of his designs and the continued strength of his brand.
