Segways have been very popular across a variety of uses, from guided tours across cities to sports, but this invention brings the self-balancing vehicle to the next level.

New Zealand inventor Kevin Halsall realized that the Segway technology could be of great help to wheelchair users and offering a way to control their mobility without the use of their hands.



Ogo, the Segway wheelchair can reach 20km/h and while it is currently just a fiberglass prototype the invention is about to enter the mass production phase.

Halsall had to initially buy a $14,000 Segway for himself to strip apart and reassemble it in the shape of a chair that is highly responsive to the core movements of the user.
