Lorenzo Cain 'Had a Blast' at the All-Star Game

The American League has earned home-field advantage in the World Series with a 6-3 victory over the National League in the 2015 MLB All-Star Game. The junior circuit was led by Mike Trout and Lorenzo Cain, the only players to each record a pair of hits.

Trout has starred throughout his burgeoning career with the Los Angeles Angels and he continued to produce on Tuesday night at Cincinnati's Great American Ballpark, smashing a home run in the 352-foot home run in the first inning off National League starter Zack Greinke. The AL's only other homer of the night would come off the bat of Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier, who hit a solo shot in the eighth inning.

Before the game, there was talk that Cain did not deserve to be an All-Star but was there because of the Kansas City Royals fans, who voted in four starters for their team (Alex Gordon was injured and could not play). However, Cain stole the show – literally – with an RBI double, single and a stolen base.

For the National League, Andrew McCutchen left the yard with a mammoth 407-foot shot in the sixth inning. The reigning NL MVP did all he could to potentially give his Pittsburgh Pirates a Game 7 of the World Series in PNC Park, but the pitching could not hold up the senior circuit's meager offensive output.

On the bright side, Jacob deGrom was tremendous on the mound for the NL. deGrom, who won the Rookie of the Year award in 2014 for the New York Mets, came in for the sixth inning and struck out the side on 10 pitches. On the other end of the spectrum, Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers was rocked in the fifth inning for three hits, a walk and two earned runs.

Kershaw ultimately took the loss for the National League, while David Price of the Detroit Tigers picked up the win after working a scoreless fourth inning with two strikeouts.
