MUNCIE, Ind. — An Indiana grandma doesn't let intruders get off easy.

Early Tuesday morning, 61-year-old Ann Nichols was alerted when her house alarm went off. Nichols went to the garage to check out what was going on. She noticed the door was pushed open and that's when she went back in her house and grabbed her gun.

"I told him I was tired of people stealing from me. You aren't going nowhere," said Nichols, who held intruder at gunpoint.

Nichols told FOX59 she's had things stolen before and this time she decided that wasn't going to happen.

"No he wasn't getting away with anything of mine. No," she said.

The Muncie grandma told her sister to call 911 while she stayed in the garage with the suspect until Muncie police arrived.

"He kept saying 'Can you put the gun down?' and I said, 'As soon as the police get here,'" Nichols said.

Muncie Police showed up about 10 minutes later and arrested 29-year-old Mark West Jr.

West told Nichols and authorities he was looking for gasoline. There was a container of gas next to the door and Nichols says all Wes had to do was ask for it.

"If you would've knocked on my door and asked me I would've given it to you," Nichols said.

West has been preliminarily charged with burglary. Muncie Police told FOX59 although what Nichols did was bold, they don't encourage those actions.

Authorities say if you do catch an intruder make sure you get a good description, keep an eye on the direction they're heading, and call 911 immediately.
