When the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals, it appeared that they might be able to talk their star players into taking discounts to make sure the payroll didn't get bloated. That lasted for all but a few days before things have taken a sharp turn south.

According to Marc J. Spears from Yahoo! Sports, the Warriors have been cut off by Draymond Green, who is now open to listening to other offers from other teams.

The Warriors met with Green and agent B.J. Armstrong in Los Angeles after 12:01 a.m. ET on Tuesday when NBA free agents could first begin negotiating with teams, a source told Yahoo Sports. The Warriors were given the first opportunity to reach a contract agreement before Green considered talking with other teams. But with the breakdown in talks, Green is now open to meeting with other franchises immediately, the source said.

This is potentially lethal to the Dubs chances of bringing Green back. There was hope before Wednesday that he'd be able to get talked down to a hometown discount so he can remain in Oakland and continue to build a dynasty with the Warriors. That has all changed now, but what exactly this all means is yet to be determined.

At the end of the day, this could simply be posturing by Green so that he gets the deal from the Warriors that he wants. He's a young player hitting free agency for the first time and may have been swooned by his relationship with the Warriors into being talked into negotiating a smaller deal that what he's worth.

Reality and common sense has clearly set in, and Green knows that his best option is to shop his value around.

Teams like the Pistons, Knicks and Mavericks could all make a run at Green, as well as the Los Angeles Clippers. There's nothing saying that Green won't sign with the Warriors when July 9th rolls around, but the fact that nothing at all is being said between the two sides is less than encouraging.
