Smithsonian gives the public a peek at its adorable new baby red pandas

If there's one thing cuter than a baby red panda, it's 7 of them.

The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute has shared some images of the adorable panda cubs they recently welcomed to the institution.

Keepers are hand-raising 5 of them, as two of the 3 mothers are unable to do so.

One mother, Regan, is a member of the zoo's red panda community that is considered genetically valuable. In the past, she hasn't been successful at rearing her young by herself.

Prior to her going into labor, the zoo decided it's best to take on the panda-raising responsibilities themselves.

Leo Mai, the other panda whose cubs are being cared for by zoo personnel, sadly had to be euthanized following the births of her offspring due to an aggressive cancer.

The third mother, Nutmeg, is caring for her own cubs and the family is reported to be doing quite well.
