Brian Williams On 'Nightly News' Suspension: 'It Has Been Torture'

The first promo for NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt has started running on the peacock network.

The clip was pulled together after NBC announced Thursday that Holt would be the permanent anchor of the news program, according to TheWrap. The 15-second promo uses field footage of the 56-year-old and a logo that previously existed from his weekend editions of Nightly News.

Holt was previously filling in for Brian Williams, who had been suspended earlier this year for six months. His official tenure helming the broadcast will begin Monday, when the show takes on its official new title.

As for Williams, he apologized to the Today show's Matt Lauer on Friday for saying "things that weren't true" and admitted that his suspension had been "torture." He will join MSNBC in August as a breaking news anchor.
