Women share which woman should be on #TheNew10
For the first time in more than a hundred years, a woman's face will appear on American paper currency. Naturally, everyone has their own opinion of which woman it will be -- Twitter is flooding with thoughts. Check out #TheNew10.
The Treasury Department announced plans to unveil a new ten dollar bill in 2020 to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the Constitution's 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote.
Founding father and the nation's first treasury secretary Alexander Hamilton will still appear on the bill in some diminished way, but for the first time since Martha Washington appeared on the one dollar certificate in the late 19th century, a woman's face will be front and center.
Names like Eleanor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, even Beyonce (jokingly) have been thrown around.
These celebs have taken to Twitter with their opinions.
Love #TheNew10 idea to put a woman on the $10. My mom, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founder of @SpecialOlympics is a good choice @USTreasury
