Decoded: Basic
It seems like everyone these days is using "basic" on a regular basis. Just ask the likes of Kate Moss or Emma Stone. The widely popular term refers to any place, person, or activity that is incredibly predictable or boring. It's most often times used to describe someone who really likes mainstream products or music.
It first came into American consciousness when comedian Lil' Duval coined it. But it wasn't until College Humor used it in a parody video in 2014 that it gained slang stardom.
And since then, it hasn't slowed down.

Am I hipster for not liking the man bun and beard trend or am I basic because the people that usually like them are hipsters?
