Canada's MTV is to cancel the iconic Degrassi teen drama after 14 seasons.

The long-running Degrassi franchise from indie producer Epitome Pictures launched the young careers of the rapper Drake, 90210's Shenae Grimes and The L.A. Complex's Cassie Steele.

"We are immensely proud of Degrassi, and our longstanding partnership with Linda and Stephen. We wish the entire Epitome team the best of luck, and look forward to working with them again in the future," Phil King president, CTV, sports and entertainment programming, said in a statement Thursday.

Epitome, led by Linda Schuyler and Steven Stohn, was acquired by DHX Media in 2014. The Toronto-based producer has made the long-running series about the adventures of Toronto high school students since 1980.

Degrassi also airs on TeenNick in the U.S. and is licensed in more than 140 territories around the world. The series has also been licensed to Amazon Prime for streaming in the U.S. market.

The 14th and final season of Degrassi debuts on July 20 on MTV in Canada.
